The Lay Apostles of IC Parish are first and foremost a prayer group. We seek to be intimately united to Jesus in our daily work and through our vocations in order to obtain graces for the conversion of sinners. Through the practice of contemplative pray, and in cooperation with the Holy Spirit, we hope to allow Jesus to flow through us to the world.
The three charisms of this apostolate are:
Compassionate Listening, Learning and Teaching the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and Promoting Unity within the Church as requested by the Holy Father.
Lay Apostles are obligated beyond standard Catholic practice to adopt the following spiritual exercises:
(1) Recite each morning: the Allegiance Prayer, Morning Offering and prayers for the Pope
(2) Attend one hour of Eucharistic Adoration per week
(3) Attend a monthly discussion meeting where the Luminous Mysteries are prayed
(4) Confess monthly
(5) Follow the example of Jesus, treating all others with patience and kindness
All Lay Apostolate resources (literature/media) are approved by the Church:
The Nihil Obstat has the signature of Very Rev John Canon Murphy. The Imprimitur has the signature of Most Rev Leo O’Reilly, Bishop of Kilmore, Ireland who says of the visionary Anne: “Her spirituality and the spiritual path that she proposes to those who wish to accept it are in conformity with the teachings of the Church and of the great spiritual writers of the past and present.” The Chaplain for this worldwide apostolate is Fr Darragh Connolly.
Lay Apostles meet on the second Thursday of the month in meeting room 4.
